Can you just smell it! I can officially say autumn in upon us! The smells.......oh man! new crayons, new clothes, the smell of kids outta the house all day, apples, new shoe smells (gotta get these sniffs in quick!), freshly sharpened pencils, school bus exhaust, leaves crunching, autumn colors are my favorite, chili!!!!, love the chili's, and oh!, bonfires and pumpkins too! One of our favorite autumn foods here is baked buttercup squash! hhhhmmmmm. Fresh white socks, boxes of kleenex, hot summer days with cool nights, and even the stars seems closer and brighter! Is there anything about autumn that is NOT exciting? Not in my eyes.
I have the next ten days off (ssshhhhhhh!!!!!), so it's all about repainting and cooking and just playing 'stay-at-home' mom! I often shutter when I hear people say "well, my husband is gone so much it's like i'm a single mom too!.' I know they mean well in a consoling kind of way, but really?!?!?! I laugh because as they try to put themselves in the same boat as those of us who would prefer to wait until all the "GOOD" men get back to heaven before making our final selection of mates (it's saves time that way, dont have to weed out the riff-raff), I find myself taking a vacation from my job, just to do what they do! Stay home and cook, clean, shop, visit kids at school, take the time to bake special things for my family, visit with friends, catch up on crafts, blah blah blah. No offense to my married besties here!, I love you all.....you know that! But are we ever really happy with where we are? NO!!!!! Life is all about experiences and growth, we just gotta have 'em! Some of them are good, some not so good.
I have decided to create my own experiences! Kinda my mini-bucket list of sorts! I will reach out to someone new, make a new friend! (now where to find one................hhhmmmmmmmmmmm) I will give up sounding like a truckin'-sailor when I get angry, and take my three favorite boys to someplace new, somewhere we've never been. Yes!, this sounds awesome. Ok, secretly, I already know where I'm taking them, only a 6 hour drive away, and I just know this will freak them totally out! I cant wait! (send me a post if you want more of an inside scoop) Hint: maybe I should wait until October!
I have decided to blog more often, August was a looonnnnggggggg month with too much work and not enough time to play! Sorry!
MY ENDING THOUGHT:
SEPTEMBER IS NATIONAL PREPAREDNESS MONTH!!!!!!!
I will be working on winter preparedness. Shopping for the best oil prices, winterizing the AC unit, packing up some of the outside furniture/toys, making sure we get new windshield wipers, tires, oil changes, changing the batteries in our smoke and carbon dioxide detectors, making beef jerky, and applesauce, and cinnamon-apple breads, punkin bread and chili, planning my six year olds' birthday party!, college resumes and college visits, and just playing in the leaves, cheering at the football games and lovin' my babies!, no matter how old they are!
